Boycotting Fashion Brands: Does It Really Make A Difference?
“What message does burning a Balenciaga Le Cagole send to Demna and those at Kering, and do they even care? Kering’s stock price fell by more than 1% on November 16th, the day the images were released, a clear indication that the first initial outburst of backlash did in fact hinder the company monetarily. However, if Balenciaga had been able to sweep the mess under the carpet and keep anger at bay they would have almost certainly been able to recover their stocks rather swiftly and smoothly. The opposite has happened.”
Miuccia Steps Down As CEO: What’s Next For Prada?
“Prada announced that Miuccia Prada, as well as her husband, will be stepping down as co-CEOs of the Prada Group. However, Miuccia will continue as creative director of Miu Miu and co-creative at Prada alongside Raf Simons. There was always going to be a time when Miuccia would have to begin scaling back her work and therefore influence on the brand, however, by staying on as the creative director at Miu Miu and co at Prada it’s clear that she won’t be stepping back completely, at least not just yet.”
The BFC Fashion Awards 2022: The Winners & Red Carpet Best Dressed
“All gathered together at the Royal Albert Hall in London for the British Fashion Council’s 2022 Fashion Awards to celebrate the creme de la creme of the fashion industry. Filled to the glorious brim with sparkling outfits, elegant gowns and, well fashion, the event was a feast for the eyes with musical performances from Jessie Ware, and Olivia Dean and a tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth with Britain’s leading bands.”
How To Dress Like Your Inner Wednesday Addams
“As the name would suggest, this new television series focuses on the family's teenage daughter Wednesday, well-known for her slick black pigtails and characteristic black wardrobe. To say the series has been a success would be an understatement with the show becoming Netflix’s third most-watched English show in a mere two weeks, thanks, partly, to the deliciously devilish costume design of the title character.”
Princess of Wales Dazzles Twice Within A Week & Champions Rental Style
The Princess of Wales has once again proven her ability to dress in a multitude of styles, always dressing to perfection for the occasion she is at.
While attending the Earthshot Prize 2022 awards in Boston last week, Kate chose to champion the rental fashion economy instead of re-wearing an old (as expected.) The neon green dress from Solace London was rented by the Princess from Hurr London for a mere £74. While the dress was affordable, she did choose to accessorise with Queen Mary’s emerald choker which is worth a whopping £15 million, but then again, she is a future Queen! The boat neckline and straight-line gown was sleek and modern.
By contrast, she went for a more ‘traditional’ and modest look for the annual Diplomatic Corps reception held at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday evening. Unsurprisingly, she chose Jenny Packham as her designer of choice for this event, wearing a red bedazzled dress that showed off her height and stature. For the first time since 2015, she decided to bring out the Lotus Flower tiara, a welcome change after seeing her in Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot just two weeks ago. To keep the look from feeling too matronly, she wore her hair down. Apparently, the late Queen did not allow one to wear their hair down with a tiara!
